We take an interdisciplinary approach to the stewardship of complex historic places by closely integrating a variety of specialists and site managers into the project process. We adapt management approaches to reflect the particular needs of our clients or to emphasize the particular context, conditions, and character of the study site.
AECOM’s Historic and Cultural Landscapes Center of Excellence is a nationally recognized leader in cultural landscape management services. Our staff meets the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualification Standards for History and Historical Landscape Architecture.
Our work addresses historic landscapes of all scales and types, including designed, vernacular, ethnographic, and historic sites. Our process, grounded in the US Department of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties, recognizes that historic sites contain not only physical resources, but also intangible traditions, stories, and meaning–rooting communities to their locale and connecting people across many generations.
