Our bioarchaeology staff is trained to conduct preliminary osteological assessments, including the determination of age at death, gender, and gross pathologies of human skeletal remains during active cemetery investigations.
Dr. Thomas A. Crist, a nationally recognized expert in forensic anthropology, bioarchaeology, and paleopathology, leads AECOM’s more detailed studies of human remains. Dr Crist is a professor of anatomy and anthropology at Utica College in Utica, New York. He also serves as the forensic anthropologist for the Philadelphia Medical Examiner’s Office and is currently a member of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Disaster Mortuary Operational Response Team.
